Pros

Fast paced and action packed. Express is a good place to work if you are straight out of college and looking to get your feet wet.

Cons

Technology at Express is pretty far behind. Compensation also lags behind that of other companies. Most of the management here is competent, but there are exceptions.

    Pros

Employee discount of 50% off your first purchase.

    Cons

    Incompetent managers.
No commission, bad hourly, no desire to sell.
They scream and yell in your ear to "sell sell sell! we need blablabla more to reach our goal!" when there is basically no incentive.
Horrible communication between managers and everyone else.
Hours can be ridiculous. Staying till after midnight when your shift was supposed to end at 10.
Managers think they're better than you. Don't treat you with respect.
Store manager didn't even know all of his employees' names.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more competent managers who don't think that highly of themselves. They're just managers of a retail clothing store. Not a big deal.
Increase hourly or implement commission base salary to give incentive to employees.

TERRIBLE JOB, only good for someone who doesn't mind NOT getting hours.

Current Employee - Sales Associate in Dearborn, MI

    Pros

    50% discount first time employee
and they give you another %50 discount once you complete training, but I and other employees still haven't received this.

Usually 30% off for employees (Only at the store you work at), but i don't care about the clothes

It's really fun helping out customers and such, etc.

    Cons

The managers adamentely DEMAND for you to push that stupid credit card, and you have to 100% attentive to customers at ALL times even if the customer doesn't even want your help.

You are practically HOUNDING the customers.
Be prepared to stay there 2 hours after the mall closes to fold clothes.
I would rather work at Hollister, I hear they have their own folders.

And you only get paid off of how much revenue the store makes, so in hindsight, if the store doesn't make much money then expect to have little to NO hours.
The only people who can get hours is the CLS...ugh.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would really appreciate if Express didn't hire an additional 20 sales associates for the holiday season when they can only afford to give each associate 2 days out of the week.
