I have been working at Express Scripts full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Location, relative to STL metro area (south, west, IL all reasonable drive). Dynamic environment. Fair pay, sometimes good-great bonus.

Cons

Missed bonus last year, hopefully doesn't repeat. Can be a highly political atmosphere.

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The starting pay is better than average
    The benefits are decent
    The location is convenient
Most of the low level employees are nice and great to work with

    Cons

Policies that set you up to fail
Incompetent IT department, HR department, management, & supervisors (the less competent you are the further you will go)
Outdated technology (some of the technology is so outdated it's not being taught in schools any more)
It's not about what you know it's all about who you know
Infinite compassion for the customers but none for the employees
An adherence to the policies so rigid that they don't take life into consideration (ex. traffic, sick children, etc.)
Poor communication with employees and between departments
Inaccurate tracking system for productivity and accuracy
    Poor advancement opportunities
    Poor annual/merit raises
    Very patronizing environments
Employees are penalized for everything, even for preforming their assigned job function
No way to dispute inaccuracies in your error reports
    Very inflexible scheduling

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your policies to be less rigid. Employees should not be penalized for doing their jobs properly. From a salaried employee standpoint the policies are designed to set us up to fail. If you want to provide high quality service to the customers i would advise making your employees happy. From talking with a variety of employees from around the building the vast majority of us are very dissatisfied with the company and are willing to "jump ship" as soon as anything that appears better comes along.

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    It's a paycheck
The people (doers) are great people to work with.

    Cons

    Understaffed
    long hours
big expectations and workload because they run lean
no bonus but George can have one
Executive and senior management make poor decisions
Good talent is often walking out the door
Good talent is often let go and replaced with offshore resources
    Not valued as an employee
    Basically the walmart of pharmaceuticals

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

IF integrity is your core value than stand by it. George if I were you (being a good leader) I would have took $1 in salary, waived my bonus and stock options and other incentives and spread that around to the people that actually make things happen around here. You are untransparent. A good leader is transparent in everything he does. I would get rid of every manager in the middle much like ge did and have the doers have 1 director inbetween executives and the people that actually run your company. You are running too lean on doers and heavy stacked with management. Cleaning house would be the first thing I would do. Sometimes you need to burn the forest down so new growth can really take place.
