Current Employee - Account Manager  in  Bloomington, MN
Current Employee - Account Manager in Bloomington, MN

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

As an Account Manager, I'm afforded the opportunity to work virtually. This has afforded me the opportunity to relocate back to where my extended family is located while continuing to work for a great company.

Cons

Could be a titch more competitive in terms of pay in the industry

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't allow or contribute to a culture of favoritism or elitism; don't micromanage - just hire people you know can do the job and work independently!

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay and benefits are good. Opportunities for advancement in leadership exist if you have the energy, are willing to put yourself above your employees, and have the cunning to thrive in a highly political shark tank. It's a great company for those with the right personality and life situation.

    Cons

Terrible for people with families and/or expectations outside work. Company doesn't seem to value its employees. Hard work is rewarded with more work. Company does not celebrate successes. Shareholders will always be taken care of before employees. Disrespectful behavior by (some) executives is tolerated and seemingly encouraged. Performance management methodology creates too much competition between employees and shifts emphasis from actual contributions to arbitrary actions like "visibility." Culture of being cheap. Suboptimal systems and processes abound.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward performance not pageantry. Take time periodically to clean up the messes left behind from being fast and cheap.

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's a paycheck that is the only positive there is

    Cons

Management keeps upping the standards. They continue to expect more and more from their techs and don't give us anything in return. They keep putting questionable policies into effect and when they are questioned about them all you get is the run around about them. They want the company to be your number one priority, not your family or other prior commitments. Forget your personal life if you work for this company, your personal life becomes this company. They initiate mandatory overtime, take away quarterly bonuses or when they decide to give them back, they cut them because you didn't give them the very best performance you could have. They expect you to work job functions above your pay level but NOT get paid for it even though there is plenty of your own work that needs to be done. There is a complete lack of communication between departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of your current management and get people in there that really know what they are doing. Better time management will go a long way. Do more to get moral out of the toilet and you may have a better work environment.
