Current Employee - Customer Support Specialist in Saint Louis, MO
Current Employee - Customer Support Specialist in Saint Louis, MO

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Flexible work environment, numerous work at home positions available, casual dress code, fair bonus program, can carry a good portion of Paid Time Off balance forward each calendar year, career growth opportunities exist if you are a stellar employee. Very professional team members. I benefit greatly from the college compensation program which is offered to all full time employees.

Cons

Would like to see a bit more diversity in the work place. Work life balance a bit difficult because high weekly work hours are the set expectation of most employees. Customer service reps's could use more training and orientation. Expect that you learn the job very quickly. Would like to see more training programs.

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good peer group, the pay is good but not for the amount of hours worked. The PTO is good but if you take time off it will take weeks to catch up.

    Cons

Little to no training, expected to know what you don't know, days off only set you back further, unrealistic workload expectations, frequently pointed in numerous different directions to complete tasks, no accountability, too many temporary employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Share the workload more evenly among employees. Provide pertinent training sessions. Hire more permanent employees instead of contingent workers. Don't put sensitive projects in the hands of contingent workers.

IT focuses on profit not innovation or customer satisfaction

I have been working at Express Scripts full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The pay and benefits are decent.

    Cons

Outsourcing the IT department in order to focus on IT department earnings has made it almost impossible to serve clients in a fair and competent manner. Much more exciting to be on the cutting edge instead of the cutting block. It is extremely difficult to get an IT department to accept responsibility for a problem or help with a solution without first showing them the money (VPMi #).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on clients, both internal and external, instead of your bonus. Client satisfaction will lead to larger bonuses without sacrificing both service and ESI's reputation.
