I worked at Extended Stay America full-time (more than a year)

Pros

The extended guests are great. Its different thean managing a full service hotel in that you are able to really get to know your guests on a personal level.

Cons

Overwork managers. Sometimes would work 80hrs a week. Takes too long to hire employees to replace those that have left. Turn over is hi because there isnt a real training program in place.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Locations are extremely understaffed. Managers are carrying too hi of a load and that effects your overall productivity and the overall happiness of your employees.

    Pros

There are opportunities because the company needs to mature its business processes and technology if they are to achieve their goal of going public. Many new people have joined corporate an there is an enthusiasm to tackle these issues. New P2P software will be implemented in 2013.

    Cons

There is a lot of employee stress due to many operational inefficiencies and the lack of global planning across the enterprise when new solutions are implemented.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your staff competitive salaries and look for opportunities to streamline your business processes by providing incentives to those who identify and lead these changes. Become more proactive in creating a viable career pathsfor your employees.
