I have been working at Exterran full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The people are by far the best thing Exterran has to offer. The work environment is pretty relaxed and management is usually easy to talk to. Exterran values training and learning opportunities for new hires like no other.

    Cons

Some instability in the last few years but most companies have had this too. Salary is not the greatest for the industry and sometimes that means losing really smart people for better paying jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are plenty of really good initiatives in place right now to improve the cons, but as long as salaries+bonuses+monetary incentives are rather below the industry, retaining talented people will be challenging.

    Pros

It may be a large organization but you can get to know a lot of people and make many professional connections.

    Cons

There are times when I find upper management's incompetence annoying. They hire people from overseas rather than people from America. Want to move up the ranks?...it probably won't happen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your act together. Your best are leaving.
