    I worked at Exterran full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good place to learn other areas of the business. Great co-workers. 9/80 was a great perk.

    Cons

    No accountability from other teams when working on a project. Communication is lacking from middle and upper management. Hiring/promotion nepotism adopted within the past 2 years; hiring outside versus promoting with-in. No upward mobility career path. Entrenched complacent middle management with little desire for change. Very few knowledgeable project managers; projects seldom complete on time. Salary increases are below government COLA index. Long hours without compensation, financially or other. Elimination of 9/80 work week based on a few that took advantage of the perk; instead of punishing the few, the entire company lost the perk. Gallup poll has not improved over the years; why waste money on Gallup when middle and upper management do not make changes.

    Advice will not help as recommendations are not heeded. The answers are there and have been communicated but are not acted on.
