Pros

safety culture, OK compensation and benefits.

Cons

forced ranking system, ranking gets carried over every year. Each year you can only move 10 points up or down.
career growth depends on who you know in the company and if your manager (only manager) likes you or not.
You never know what works and what doesn't until you get your ranking.
Complete lack of transparency with regard to career path. Works great for people who are willing to let their managers drive their career path.

Advice to Management

Define structured and consistent performance review process as opposed to giving near full control to individual functional managers without appropriate checks and balances.
Get HR to do their jobs i.e. manage performance review process

    Pros

Travel, sophistication of clients and collegues, and best in class in house law department.

    Cons

Centrally planned organization with very little employee input into career progression. Top down forced ranking and evaluaton model (no 360's) which is unlikely to change.

    Advice to Management

Might be useful to occaisionally seek input from line counsel into how to improve the department.

    Pros

Easy work for good pay, very loyal company and want loyal people

    Cons

The culture is conservative, slow, republican-leaning, risk-averse...work was not intellectually stimulating because positions are very siloed

    Advice to Management

Stop separating yourself from the employees into the "god pod"
