Enjoyed my time spent with the company, but they dropped the ball

I worked at ExxonMobil as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Best at what they do (arguably)

Cons

A true, modern mega-corp (tremendous compartmentalization)

I worked at ExxonMobil full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Really very easy work. Actually too easy. I felt like I was doing the same thing over and over again and not learning.

    Cons

Very political environment. If you don't value the environment and believe that oil will never be challenged by other fuels, you'll be fine. If you have an open mind you are going to have a tough time in this culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are so set in their ways here that it seems pointless to even give advice.

Exxon Mobil provides good career opportunities but has a rigid corporate structure and is not for everyone.

I have been working at ExxonMobil full-time

    Pros

Exxon Mobil employees tend to be very bright and dedicated to their work. You get job security and opportunities for different assignments.

    Cons

Exxon Mobil is a very rigid corporate structure and there's not a lot of room for original thinking. If you do not fit the culture or their idea of a good engineer you will not be happy. Their compensation is average compared to most large companies and below average compared to other oil & gas majors or energy companies.
