Former Employee - Field Engineer in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)
Former Employee - Field Engineer in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)

I worked at ExxonMobil full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

The wide range of experienced field engineers allowed me to fit in and learn right away. Was not worried by my more experienced co-workers, they really looked out for me.

Cons

Exxon is a major player in the industry now and will be so in the future. Must be able to give the time and effort if you want to move up. I choose my family when we had our first child and left to stay closer to home. Will try to go back later if possible.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice. Loved the way management made things so clear.

Former Employee - Sales in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

I worked at ExxonMobil as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Had a brief stint as a contractor in Menara Exxonmobil in the Downstream business (commercial sales) Nice office in Central KL. close to Petronas Twin Towers.

    Cons

Discovered that compensation (salary) was much lower compared to peers when on the job. Micromanagement by immediate supervisor. Manager thinks that just because of his position that he does not have to be respectful or reasonable to subordinates that have a different viewpoint to him

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because you are manager and permanent employee does not mean you can just step on contractors

    Distant management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You could do more by giving employees more leeway in doing their work.
Most management cadres only care about covering their butts.
