Pros

great team to work with. opportunities to learn. fun work environment, although job was demanding and stressful. I had great direct report management.

Cons

company was owned by group not interested in growing long term business, but in "flipping" and selling off for profit. Poor decisions made- layoffs.

I have been working at F+W, a Content + eCommerce Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They have the market cornered when it comes to special interest media

    Cons

Too many uneducated people that have been "grandfathered" into the company, when in reality they should have beed laid off during one of the mass layoff sessions.
They also have no regard for the design of much of their content, when the presentation is one of the most important aspects of attracting an audience to their many media outlets.
The health insurance is also very expensive. Restructuring has just caused more things to be disorganized and for some work to get forgotten or overlooked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the people who don't have any qualifications and credentials, it causes the majority of well qualified workers to not want put forth their best efforts.

    I worked at F+W, a Content + eCommerce Company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There's a fair amount of room for advancement within the Company, depending on your skill set. Few people burn the midnight oil here, leaving at 5 is the norm.

    Cons

The company is very cheap. You won't see a raise for years, and there will be layoffs every year. They don't treat their content (or content creators) with respect, which is ironic because they claim to be all about content and community. Projects get launched with little time to figure out details or ensure quality. Quality isnt important at all anymore as long as the bottom line is okay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to be a content farm, just be a content farm. There's no pretending anymore.
