I worked at FAA

Pros

Friendly people and you are not always worried about the state of the economy and the security of your job. The location of the DC office is also great, which is considerably right in the ehart of our nations capital, Washington DC. Federal employees also have perks that are not known, some of which are quite impressive.

Cons

Sometimes you run into a lack of motivation with other workers in governement and on your own team. The incentives for hard work arent exactly comparable to private sector either; in government, age and time with the business plays a big role when it comes to moving up.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most managers are nice and that reall y helps, but occassionaly, as in eveyrwhere, you run into managers that think they're too good and who are tough to work with.

    I worked at FAA

    Pros

Great pay and benefits,Very diverse workload with ability to set priorities, challenging and highly technical workload, great training

    Cons

Brown noses advance well, You have to brag on yourself exceeding in all areas for performance bonus which some find fun since they sit around on smoke break 1/4 of day, allowing co workers to carry load.
Must be able to handle high pressure situations during equiptment outages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get out of politics,Honor hard workers instead of special projects keep technical inspectors centrally located instead of in field office where they can be supervised

FAA is a good place to work usually...all government offices have a lot of bureaucracy.

I have been working at FAA

    Pros

Federal Employees have great job security. Most projects that aren't understaffed and overworked are very flexible with when you take time off. Dress code is relaxed...probably too layed back sometimes. The location and pay are great considering the local economy does not make living in the area too expensive.

    Cons

Management typically is incompetent. At least 50% of the people you work with aren't worth what they are paid either. You have to focus on the positive people to stay sane. Incentive and recognition aren't the strong points.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just manage the people...don't reward everyone especially when most of them aren't doing the work.
