I have been working at FDA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

FDA has a strong mission to protect the public health. This ever changing mission now lends itself to working from home for many employees.

    Cons

Often at the mercy of Congress. Has become more political in the last 10-15 years. Many citizens don't respect what we do for this country. Salaries can lag the private sector.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust and empower your employees. The vast majority of federal workers want to do a good job. Don't put processes in place that punish those that are doing their job so as to prevent a very few from doing poor work.
