Pros

Very family friendly environment. They reimburse fees for wide variety of courses. Very flexible environment. They provide with many paid training opportunities.

Cons

Being a small company there are very few opportunities for growth. Political correctness pays more than performance at the company.

Advice to Management

Employees especially the middle management are rarely held accountable. Therefore there is not much pressure on employees to perform to the fullest.

    Pros

    Upper management very accessible. Great small-company feel where you can get to know everyone. Bank-wide events like summer family events, Christmas parties and United Way weeks. Great perks (free fruit, subsidized vending/snacks, on-site café/child care). Competitive pay and great benefits package. Politically active – common for standing Senators or Representatives to stop by to deliver speeches, meet constituents and Q&A. Quarterly company-wide town hall meetings. Great training opportunities.

    Cons

    Downside of any small organization – limited opportunities for vertical promotion. The organization is locked into a geographic area, very difficult to grow. Personnel increases are typically driven by regulation and are oversight-oriented. Significant regulatory pressure and burdens to operational staff. Despite the best of intentions, staff may feel like there is always someone looking over their shoulder. The benefits create golden handcuffs; some that have been there for an extended period of time can lose perspective.

    Advice to Management

    Expect more from all tiers of management. Hold them accountable for addressing performance/staffing issues. Strive to maintain the current culture. Facilitate mutual respect and collaboration throughout the organization, especially throughout the management chain.

    Pros

    Agile environment, good benefits, good support for travel for training. This is a decent job for anyone starting out to learn skills and be challenged. Senior management is very friendly (middle management not so much).

    Cons

    Very high stress environment. Expect to work long hours and possibly overnights any time one of their fragile systems break. Management does not care about employees home lives or happiness at work. You are a resource, get used to it. Programming in VB.net.

    Advice to Management

    Spend more time and money improving products that were rushed out the door and are too fragile. Show some interest in keeping your employees happy.
