    Pros

    Can't honestly think of any

    Cons

Will push employees beyond their limits as long as profit is achieved
    Absolutely no work life balance
You will be promised one thing at the interview but you will get something else once you join

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to employ decent experienced managers who have the skills to lead rather than think about themselves and their career

You need to consider that there are people with families

Former Employee - Software Engineering Intern in San Diego, CA
Former Employee - Software Engineering Intern in San Diego, CA

I worked at FICO as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

It's an internship so it will be an asset to your resume regardless of what you really got out of it. The mentor was friendly, and you will most likely work with a/partner(s), on a Java Project. Very, almost too easygoing, i.e. show up around 9, leave around 5.

    Cons

Multiple times setting up the environment; took nearly half of the internship period to install a fully functional version of the Rational/WebSphere software. Very slow-moving as far as products getting fixed/completed. Not much mentor support or help to accelerate the learning process. Ignored by other engineers/managers after the first week. The laptops (old Dells, hopefully they've been replaced) are old and get hot and freeze.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should have a program for interns, whether or not the project is crucial or a work-in-progress to the company. More web development and less backend work, especially if the project is continued and much of it has been finished. I'd recommend a rapid development schedule (e.g. code sprint) so we could get exposure to most of the new technologies/software/languages used in the industry. I would rather get a little taste of everything than be stagnant, and spend a lot of time doing things rather simple/familiar to us.
