I have been working at FINRA

Pros

They have a FANTASTIC work-life balance.
Everyone is very friendly and welcoming.
Although it pays less than other businesses in the financial industry, the pay is still competitive since you are also working fewer hours.
There are many opportunities to be promoted.
Executives are capable and go-getters.

Cons

A bit too much "life" emphasis on the work-life balance of things.
There are varying ranges of intelligence within the company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

While not necessary to require longer hours, I would recommend expecting more from people during the hours that they are at work (this obviously is a general statement and does not apply to all departments/sectors).

    Pros

    The organization has great benefits.
Working in the Corp Headquarters is a better experience than working in a regional office full of individuals in positions of power with grand canyon size egos and very little people skills.

    Cons

The only people who get promoted in this region are the individuals who have a good social personal relationships with management...ie...drinking buddies. If you are a hard worker looking to be rewarded for your efforts, don't work in this office.

Yes sir mentality....tread with fear if you have an opinion that differs from management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean house in Boston. Some examiners are working in fear of their supervisors but remain silent. Morale is at an all time low

    Pros

Good Benefits, good learning place for college interns and junior associates out of school.

    Cons

Management is not informed or well versed in subject matter. The select few rule and when their actions are questioned, heads will role. Everything is subjective, no one in upper management can make an definitive call on anything. Poorly run. A lot of wasted time spinning wheels. Very Political atmosphere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn what rules apply and make a judgement call and stand by it.
