I have been working at FTI Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

-Base salary is competitive (health solutions practice) -Peers and team members are intelligent and experienced -Business continues to grow and we continue to expand our service lines -Aggressive growth (all organic) over the last few years

Cons

-Bonuses & comp increases over the last few years have been disappointing -Little, if any, transparency exists around the promotion process -No training budget = no professional development opportunities (unless you want to go out on your own to an industry conference) -Inconsistencies in project staffing mean roles change drastically from one project to the next, even at the Director level -Lack of internal leverage means Directors often "step down" to get the work done -Demanding travel schedule and requests for on-site presence (Fridays, holiday weeks, etc.)

Advice to Management

Develop some standards around expectations of each role on a project (D versus SD, SC versus D, etc.) and communicate to the teams. Determine what accomplishments are necessary to get to the next level and tell us! Then offer support in the form of professional development and mentoring (both are lacking).

If you are not a consultant and work in recruiting or another smaller "niche" area, you are not embraced.
