Pros

There are opportunities to contribute towards a growing consulting firm. Employees did not have to deal with time consuming compliance matters that are expected in some of the big 4 firms.

Cons

Preferential treatment exist and can be apparent. Expectations and guidelines to succeeding at your tasks are not completely clear. New employees should be mindful and should build relationship quickly.

Advice to Management

Spend more time on the ground or with project team.

    Pros

The firm offers opportunities to work on an array of interesting and challenging projects with some very smart individuals. It's a great place to learn and develop your computer skills (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint), analytical skills and attention to detail.

    Cons

The work flow can be inconsistent, and the projects that you get staffed on are largely a function of the relationships that you develop within the firm. You have to be proactive and capable of working independently if you are going to thrive in the environment. There is little to no training, which is an area that could use improvement. As such, the employee learning experience is driven primarily by project load.

    Advice to Management

Improve the training programs and educational offerings for employees. Be more transparent about pending projects.

    Pros

Interesting work and good opportunity to work with great clients.

    Cons

Since the economy has become so competitive, the culture at the firm has become very cut throat. The question that's asked by everyone, especially the SMDs, is "What have you done for me lately?" Everyone says it's a teamwork oriented environment, but the notion of teaming or sharing is a joke. Folks here protect contacts, protect clients, and don't practice cross sharing or cross selling. Lots of great talent not being nurtured, and incompetent folks getting promoted. Management also lacks the ability to communicate any news effectively.

    Advice to Management

Read all the "Con" reviews on Glassdoor carefully. They are definitely sending a consistent message to management: no transparency, incompetent SMDs, short term gains at the expense of long term vision, lip service on teaming, old boys network, poor pay, bad benefits... These are all true.
