I worked at FXCM full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

FXCM is a great spring board for your next career. Hard-working people are given the chance to prove themselves in rolls that are beyond their experience level.

Cons

Employee churn is many departments is quite high. Because insiders are promoted to management and senior rolls, little outside talent is hired which would bring in valuable outside knowledge. People working at FXCM come to believe that the FXCM way is "normal".

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The industry is rapidly changing, but the business goals and directions seem to change far more quickly; staff are often directed to chase the newest "company changing" idea of the week.

    Pros

It is a good place to get entry level experience however be careful as it does not have a good name and if you want to move on other financial institutions will not identify with the firm.

    Cons

Salary and working conditions are sub par. You are not treated well and there is no form of recognition whether it is via compensation or via other means.

I have been working at FXCM as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

It was a great interview. An individual from HR went ahead and asked standard fit questions and then handed a document reading today's market news and your told to read it. Afterwards, the hiring manager came in and asked questions scanning over your resume and then asks basic market questions. Just brush up on the economy particularly the FX market and as long as you can articulate well, you'll be fine.

The job was great and gives a strong foundation in market analysis. You also get very good on the phone. The other works are great and enjoy spending time together outside of work. We went to a Rangers Baseball game once which was alot of fun.

    Cons

Sometimes, management may get too busy, and you may be stuck by yourself, but everyone was very accommodating and willing to help.
