I worked at FXCM full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

FXCM is a great spring board for your next career. Hard-working people are given the chance to prove themselves in rolls that are beyond their experience level.

Cons

Employee churn is many departments is quite high. Because insiders are promoted to management and senior rolls, little outside talent is hired which would bring in valuable outside knowledge. People working at FXCM come to believe that the FXCM way is "normal".

Advice to Management

The industry is rapidly changing, but the business goals and directions seem to change far more quickly; staff are often directed to chase the newest "company changing" idea of the week.

I have been working at FXCM as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a great interview. An individual from HR went ahead and asked standard fit questions and then handed a document reading today's market news and your told to read it. Afterwards, the hiring manager came in and asked questions scanning over your resume and then asks basic market questions. Just brush up on the economy particularly the FX market and as long as you can articulate well, you'll be fine. The job was great and gives a strong foundation in market analysis. You also get very good on the phone. The other works are great and enjoy spending time together outside of work. We went to a Rangers Baseball game once which was alot of fun.

    Cons

Sometimes, management may get too busy, and you may be stuck by yourself, but everyone was very accommodating and willing to help.

I worked at FXCM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

High level of responsibility for low level employees. Good career growth opportunities. Sophisticated, industry leader.

    Cons

Below market starting salaries for nearly all positions (except for in sales). Highly bureaucratic. Very political. Relatively flat organizational structure can make growth challenging in some positions.
