Pros

Great brand name, if you need one on your resume

Cons

-Highly politicized working environment means 50% of your time on the job is spent posturing.
-Lots of opportunity to move laterally; not a lot of room to grow.
-Dramatic pay imbalance seems unfair. Engineers sometimes get 40x the equity compensation as non-engineer hires.
-Investment-banker hours without investment-banker pay.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more involved in managing departments other than engineering.

Former Employee - Software Engineer in Menlo Park, CA

    Pros

    * Lots of access to intelligent, experienced FTEs
    * Great benefits, including shuttles to work, daily meals, and free laundry service
    * Very open culture, with a lot of trust given to new employees and interns alike
    * Able to innovate and have impact regardless of tenure or position

    Cons

    * Interns mostly stick to their team, so for internships which team you get can be very crucial in defining your experience. This can be make or break for some interns, since some teams have unreasonable expectations or just don't mesh well with their interns.
    * At least one other intern I knew complained that some teams seemed "easier" in terms of receiving a full time offer than others.
