Pros

-Young ,energetic group of people.
-Free Lunch/Snacks/Drinks
-If you can stick it out for 2-3 years, you'll probably get promoted...Likely into Sales.
-Develop technical skills to move out of the support/software side and into the research/investment side of the industry.

Cons

-Serious Office Politics- it's a game of CYA, and making it seem like you're working harder than everyone else (whether you are or not).
-Lack of experienced leadership/management on the consultant level. This leads to poor handling of people and problems.
-This is not a job in finance. It is customer/technical support for software that investment professionals use. Essentially a call center for support from sometimes very angry finance professionals for the first 6 -12 months of the job.
-Seemingly random raises. They say you are not supposed to talk about compensation, but with a young, generally amicable group of people, they obviously do.
-Limited career opportunities outside of Sales Team.
-People recognize the company for what it is...a good place to become a salesperson or get experience and leave. In my 2 years there, over 10 people both junior and senior level left to go elsewhere.

Advice to Management

Do a better job of recognizing/promoting good people, and stop promoting people trying to just get by after 2 years.
Put experienced, responsible managers in place. You can't just promote consultants and expect them to have the managerial and people skills to handle difficult situations.

    Pros

Exposure to C-level executives and high level investment managers

    Cons

    Compensation is barely performance based

    Advice to Management

Pay people more that work 70+ hours a week on high revenue clients versus someone that barely works 40+

    Pros

FactSet allows many opportunities to travel and work with many different types of clients in the financial community. Most days are never the same and a growing company with small-company agility.

    Cons

Pay is not as competitive as competitors, however it it offset by great work-life balance. Also, sometimes you become envious of your clients and wish to work in their positions (again, not necessarily a disadvantage).

    Advice to Management

Visit all the offices worldwide and get better handle on regional needs.
