Pros

Its very much a team environment at fairchild, where you can come to depend on others to share the work load with. There isn't much stress that comes along wiht the job, as long as you do what you're supposed to you'll be fine.

Cons

Starting pay isn't very high and form what I've heard it takes a while to start earning some good money. Unless you went to school for computer engineering or have taken courses in cmputer programming finding career growth withnin the company may be a challenge.

Advice to Management

Place more importance on planning and logistics when structuring each site.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Fairchild allows for a good work/life balance with managers being flexible with hours and schedules to accomodate outside work activities. Most people enjoy working there and due to several rounds of layoffs there are almost no bad attitude employees remaining. Everyone is easy to get along with and the work is fast paced and challenging.

    Cons

Due to the cyclical nature of the semiconductor industry, periodic layoffs, shutdowns, furloughs etc. seem to come on an every 2-3 year cycle. Due to the low rate of turnover there are not a lot of opportunities for career advancement that become available.

    Advice to Management

Management at times is too involved in the day to day operations. Step back and work on the big picture and allow the front line workers to do their job.
