I worked at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts as a contractor (less than a year)

Pros

Great perks, really try to make employees happy, opportunities to move up, awesome way to travel and meet tonnes of people from different countries, able to save lots of money as a student

Cons

Seemed understaffed, sometimes negative atmosphere, worked long hours, high expectations in exceeding service standards but overall I had a great experience

I worked at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The perks, working for a "luxury" brand hotel,

    Cons

everything else, I didn't feel special working there. I felt like just because Fairmont has such a good name that they try to up keep the brand image but don't work on the small details such as making sure the employees are happy

I have been working at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits if you stay on full time. Seasonal variation of schedule can work for you if you are good with your money. Staff housing is really nice once you are in the new accommodations. A good place to move up the corporate ladder if you are interested in hotel management.

    Cons

Summertime employees do not take working there seriously which can be frustrating. Head office can make decisions that are not necessarily good for the front lines as they have a cookie cutter approach. Low, low salaries for new management and lots of bad tippers all summer. Winter hours are minimal and you sometimes have to work all night.
