I have been working at Family Dollar Stores full-time for less than a year

Pros

Good people to work with; have the ability to interact with customers, who always make the day interesting.

Cons

Outdated software, inconsistency on hours (get what you need one week, you may or may not the next). Communication from the higher-ups down to the worker bees needs to be improved.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward your employees with incentives.....getting an in-store discount wouldn't hurt either.

I worked at Family Dollar Stores full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You can learn about people in poor neighbrhoods. Can move up from asst manager to manager quick due to turnover and lack of security for employes.

    Cons

Management 80 or more hours a week .Not enough time to get all done they request. Most cashiers get more in food stamps then what they make in a month. You have about 5 hours to recver the store at night By the time you get 1/2 done and start the other half the half you finished is already a wreck. To many people running out the door.To many prostitutes, druggies, drug dealers very unsafe stores.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More cameras, more security, more payroll, should be a minimum of 2 people in store at all times. If Mr.Levine was so about family he would let his managers actually work 52 hours a week so they could be with theirs.
