Pros

Family dollar is a great place to work. The people are friendly and hard work can be rewarded.

Cons

Deadlines are hard to meet due to the last minute nature of requests.

    I worked at Family Dollar Stores full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    I can't think of one redeeming quality for this company.

    Cons

    Pay is low, coverage in the stores is a joke. Theft is rampant, customers routinely walk out with more in their pockets than in a shopping bag. Employees safety is constantly at risk. Upper management only cares about stock performance and profit margins, employees are not a priority.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop leaving employees alone in stores. Be responsible for employee safety.

    Great Customers & Co-Workers "Open Door Policy"

    Unfortunately for this company the negativity written on this site is TRUE! This company lies to its employees - beware when taking confidential surveys - your district manager will get the results and you will be terminated! As a manager you will work 60+ hours-so remember when you get that so called BONUS that you actually earned it - they are NOT giving YOU anything. You will be told that your payroll is based on your sales - not true. Your sales get higher and your payroll gets lower - forcing you to cut employees hours. Why are most of the employees getting EBT??? Shrink in these stores is immense - why?? Perhaps it is underpaid employees but mostly due to the fact you are running a store all by yourself all day long!!!! Wear depends and grab some nabs! Be sure to do an employee sale - they dont give you a discount - they just want to see how much of YOUR paycheck they are getting back!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Revisit the alloted payroll given to your stores to fit the needs of the business & make employees want to stay. Stop intimidating and threatening the employees on a daily basis. Upgrade your pos equipment and computer systems. Stop being so greedy!!!
