If you like to work with kids with behavioral issues, this is the perfect job.

Cons

~You have to answer to your boss as well as the principal of the school.
~You almost feel like a middle school babysitter.
~If your child (that has behavioral issues) gets in trouble, the principal will blame you.

    Pros

    -Access to online continuing education
-Given a choice about working during the summer
    -Average pay
    -Caring supervisors

    Cons

-Often had to do paperwork at home off the clock without pay
-Management at times invaded boundaries. Calling after hours and on weekends for non-emergency work matters.
-Unprofessional behavior from some in management. Sharing personal matters about employees with nonessential individuals
-Not reimbursed for mileage for home visits (which were required on a monthly basis - at least)
    -Redundant and excessive paperwork
-Supervisors overloaded which prevented them from fully assisting with crisis when needed
-Difficult to maintain balance between professional and personal life. Urged to practice self-care but nothing was in place to ensure counselors were able to do this without repercussions (if took time off)

    Advice to Management

Put into place a system that would allow counselor a few hours each week away from the school setting to complete paperwork while being paid without distractions. Reimburse for mileage. Dip into profits and hire more supervisors/TDT coordinators to spread out responsibilities to enable supervisors to be available to their counselors during emergencies.

  2. I loved it
