The work can be satisfying but people get promoted out of their level of competence.

Pros

The work with the childeren can be rewarding.

Cons

People are often promoted more on their willingness to follow a politically correctness viewpoint rather than on what is the best for the children. This often leads to program objectives based on what is the popular politically correct viewpoint, rather than treating children as dynamic individuals with seperate needs.

Advice to Management

Be more invested in doing what is best for the children and honestly communicating with your staff than just following the latest catch phrase of the moment.

    I worked at Family & Children's Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Most of the staff really care about the kids in their care

    Cons

Sometimes the need to keep rotate kids out does not always allow for proper treatment. State budget has an impact on the level of care. No financial incentive for those who go above and beyond. Conversely, those who are mediocre are rewarded equally as well as those who are the biggest contributors.

    Advice to Management

Reward the staff who perform with a pay commensurate with their contribution.
