I have been working at Fannie Mae

    Pros

Compensation is great and work life balance is good.

    Cons

Politics not competence is the basis of promotion. Company is under a lot of scrutiny. The future of the Company is uncertain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promotions based on politics cause high attrition. Many people with great skills leave . Hold individuals accountable for performance versus being part of good old boy network.

I have been working at Fannie Mae

    Pros

Great health benefits and 401k match program.
good vacation policy and unlimited sick leave

    Cons

    Constant change in leadership
stagnant compensation over the past few years
    low morale
government oversight introduces significant project overhead and makes getting work done very difficult
Outsourcing model has introduced significant change and not for the better

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many personal agendas at the senior management level; too many people trying to make a name for themselves. Employees are starting to have no reason to continue working for Fannie Mae, especially when there are so many other options in the DC metro area. The work is not rewarding any more and all the talent is leaving the company in droves
