I have been working at Fannie Mae full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Great Benefits for first time home buyers, commuters, life -work balance if you have an enlightened work group. Much better benefits and culture when compare to its rival Freddie Mac.

Cons

Fannie Mae is currently in receivership so its currently managed by the federal government or FHFA. The company is profitable and going through a revamp no one knows what to expect once the dust settles in a few years.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some Directors and VPs at the company stifle growth and originality. They also lack vision and should consider the value of a department or team Mission statement to guide growth and process improvements.

I have been working at Fannie Mae full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fannie Mae has great benefits and the culture is very flexible as a rule. Most of the people I have worked for have been decent and team oriented.

    Cons

The company needs to spend some resources training the front line manager. They often seem to be overwhelmed and spend too much time in their offices with their doors closed. Meeting times and places are not honored and it's too hard to get a one on one with your boss.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on beefing up the skills and consistency with your lower level managers. Ensure that all areas have the same policies on hours and working from home, etc. Provide employees a way to give anonymous feedback on their supervisors.
