I worked at Fannie Mae

Pros

Great compensation and benefits. The company also encourages transferring between groups.

Cons

Too many meetings and too many steps in the decision making process... things move very slowly.

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, professional atmosphere, good facilities.

    Cons

Lack of direction, increasingly political, multiple HQ locations (hard to meet people productively)

    Advice to Management

Treat employees better (the problems aren't their fault), don't set direction without knowing where you want to go.

    Pros

Great Benefits for first time home buyers, commuters, life -work balance if you have an enlightened work group. Much better benefits and culture when compare to its rival Freddie Mac.

    Cons

Fannie Mae is currently in receivership so its currently managed by the federal government or FHFA. The company is profitable and going through a revamp no one knows what to expect once the dust settles in a few years.

    Advice to Management

Some Directors and VPs at the company stifle growth and originality. They also lack vision and should consider the value of a department or team Mission statement to guide growth and process improvements.
