Farmers Group – “good company to work for if you can weather not-so-great economic conditions”
Pros
great support from the district manager (the company relies heavily on district staff to hire and provide training and ongoing support for agents).
freedom and flexibility (agents are self-employed contractors)
Cons
I was left out of the loop in regards to pertinent information regarding my status as a career agent.
lack of training in financial services (the quotas for career agents are based heavily on P&C and on life production and did not emphasize financial production).
Advice to Senior Management
offer additional training for financial services
adjust quotas as needed, with regards to economic conditions (personal lines P&C products become almost impossible to sell when rates are ridiculously high in an economic environment in which consumers are trying to squeeze the most out of their dollars). Credits for production count may also need to be adjusted.
