Pros

Great Benefits! Pay is good for what is required of you. After 1,00 hours of work you become eligable for the benefits package which is outstanding. You can get Health/ Medical, Dental, and Vision for less than $11 a week. I think for spouse and all children it is like less than twenty dollars a week. Not to mention if you are a college student you can get tuition reinbursement of fifteen hundred dollars a year. The best part is you don't even have to be full-time to get any of those benefits.

Cons

Sometimes they don't give promotion to people who work hard when they deserve it.

Advice to Management

I would review the application of people who are trying to be promoted a little better so not to discourage them.

    Pros

Up till now the co seemed to be pretty stably and secure. The future of that reputation may change soon. When there is not a hiring freeze the co is great about letting you explore other departments. People have been known to go to purchasing and hr from engineering fields. The co is pretty good about promoting from with in.

    Cons

Now that ground has to help out express thought times are a changing. Lately, the co as a whole has had to take a hit for divisions that are not keeping up. Even after that was done freight still incountered a lay off.

    Advice to Management

Be more engaging with your staff.

    Pros

FedEx Ground provides an intense environment, but also a daily sense of accomplishment. Development is a growing focus in the company. FedEx Ground provides the resources for employees to take charge of their career and accomplish their career goals. Although the work is intense, the culture is very relaxed. It truely is a big FedEx family environment everywhere you go within the company, there is that common bond that unites us. I've never worked for a company that has the culture that is at FedEx. FedEx offers competitive salaries and great benefits.

    Cons

As with any large corporation, FedEx Ground has its share of pork (employees who don't pull their weight). FedEx Ground's approach to the problems has encouraged some of this behavior. It become too large in many respects. Also, the employees are watching a change from putting People first, to putting numbers first. There's a lack of recognition for the accomplishments. Too often, the negative is pointed out, yet the positive goes unnoticed. A facility can hit a particular goal for several weeks in a row (maybe even exceed that goal). Not much or nothing may be said about it. However, if that facility falls short one week, then upper management is quick to point it out and give orders to address it immediately.

    Advice to Management

It is difficult to be an agent of change when it comes to all the decisions the come down the ladder. Along with giving us the information to send down to the troops, it would be helpful for you to send an explanation for us to convey as well. Employees are tired of receiving our positive spin on change. They want to receive honest and concrete information from the ones who actually enacted the change. Managers receive conflicting messages. On one respect, they are told--more like pressured--by upper management to hit certain goals at any cost. On the other hand, it seems to shock upper management when lower management resorts to unethical means to get to those goals. Too often the message to managers is, "get to this number or you'll be gone." Sometimes, that approach may be justified. Sometimes, it's not.
