I have been working at FedEx full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

One gets to work for one of the 3 major transportation majors in the world Get to establish a good work-life balance One of the largest IT spenders in the world

Cons

Projects generally takes a long time to implement (think multiple years!) Not a nimble and agile company in terms of getting things done...if your looking to achieve a lot, this is not a place for you So conservative in approach (from a legal standpoint), it actually hurts business

Advice to Management

Get innovative and break down red-tape barriers to achieve more in an acceptable timeframe

I have been working at FedEx full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

always active. meet and get a chance to know lots of customers. Home Delivery drivers are usually motivated. work on your own. pay can be fairly well in some cases.

    Cons

no medical benefits while working for contractors, hours (completion time) can vary from day to day. pay can vary widely in some cases, depending on the route.

    Advice to Management

I would love to see an implication of some type of feedback forum for various job-related issues, for example such as scanner issues and possible delivery issues and delivery problems/challenges that others encounter that could be shared with the whole terminal to help improve service.

  2. Bureaucratic nightmare, lack of transparency

I have been working at FedEx full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Largest employer in the area, you can survive if you are a deadwood

    Cons

Bureaucratic, non-transparent, professionals need to patronize a lot to climb up the ladders, the process for career development is not well laid out, mixed signals in grooming a leader while hiring another, hard work is overlooked unless exclusively sold to the upper management on a regular basis.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent about the decisions you make; hiring MDs, re-org, etc.
