Current Employee - Package Handler in Grand Rapids, MI
Current Employee - Package Handler in Grand Rapids, MI

I have been working at FedEx part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Fedex pays tuition assistance of up to three thousand dollars a year. They also provide basic benefits despite being only part time.

Cons

The biggest draw back is starting at 4 am. Work outside in the cold. Amount of hours worked varies greatly per week.

    Pros

Tuition assistance helped pay for my books at the local university. Consistent hours but worked the early morning shift so crappy hours.

    Cons

Everything. The most frustrating part about this position was the management. They refused to recognize people with great potential. Rather they would hide them.

    Advice to Management

Take a closer look at your package handlers. Many are college educated students that would perform better at a management position.

  2. Work environment and culture is great, but salary is low and not enough growth opportunities.

    Pros

One of the most admired companies with global reputation and strong C-level leadership.

    Cons

IT side growth opportunities are few and far between, especially in Dallas.

    Advice to Management

Don't put a limit for promotions into EB3 - there are lot more qualified people stuck in EB2 and there have not been enough opporunities!
