I have been working at Federal Government full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Since it isn't a contract job, no worries form year to year if you will have a job.

    Cons

Not is to move up the ranks. Good old boy network still. Have to take too much training that isn't related to your job. Not enough money to take classroom training that is job related.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to do a better job on mentoring the ranks and preparing to take the next step in their career.

I worked at Federal Government full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Teamwork, professionalism, pay, telecommuting, advancement. In 36 yr career I never was board and had a variety of positions over the years

    Cons

Too rigid with too much red tape. Additionally, a lack of technology tools in that most of time we were 5 yrs behind private industry in terms of the latest computers, iPads, cell phones, video communications and training. Also, recruitment from colleges is discouraged.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in technology and minimize procedures and requirements....this will lead to faster innovation and job success. Also, recruit directly at the college level.
