I have been working at Federal-Mogul full-time

Pros

A great place for an engineer to grow and learn. Very flexible hours if you work in engineering (salaried). Down to earth management team at Athens

Cons

Hours can be long. (Most manufacturing environments are). No cons that I can think of right off the bat about working here.

    Pros

Management is wonderful to work with

    Cons

Union shop - was told not to upset the stewards... what kind of place is this? It is a company that makes a product regardless of 'feelings'

I have been working at Federal-Mogul full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The benefits and salary is fair. Since the plant is being moved to Juarez I am also learning that the severance package is also fair.

    Cons

Corporate decided our plant was not a core business so they are moving the product line to Juarez so it can die (opinion). The plant has a 30-year history of dedicated / talented people, high quality products, advanced automation, and profitability. It seems so wasteful not to move new products into the facility to capitalize on all of the valuable talent and assets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most times management does not take time to truly comprehend the capabilities and accomplishments of the people that actually make manufacturing happen...a condescending nod is not true respect. When people and their efforts are reduced to mere assets employment in corporate America is no longer something to be valued.
