Secure to a fault

Project Consultant, Senior (Former Employee)
San Francisco, CA

I worked at Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco full-time for more than 10 years

ProsSolid benefits, educational and training opportunities. Big company travel chances if you're in the right department. Pensions (whoa!) and a good 401k match.

ConsOld world culture at all levels. For a large company, so many silos you'll never find your way out. Tough to get buy in for anything. Tougher to get cooperation and teamwork. Sense of privilege and lethargy. Overall, not a pleasant place to stay unless you just kind of resolve to go with the flow.

Advice to Senior ManagementChange is not a word that's ever really been embraced. Fiefdoms will always abound. You're not making the impact you think. You don't need to take a hard look at yourselves, you need to learn to work together. Take a look at Barney and learn how the kindergartners do it. Do real evaluations of employees. Make people work, contribute, and not coast.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
