I have been working at Ferris State University

Pros

They are always very good about working around your classes and schedule. In most cases they don't mind if you need to call in.

Cons

There is very little room to grow. In most cases the jobs are paying minimum wage and offer small raises.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If I had to offer Ferris advice. It would be to pay closer attention to how much work the student employees do.

I have been working at Ferris State University full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Awesome co-workers and to some extent flexibility. The team work when the stuff hits the fan is beyond comparre and for the most part, everyone comes together as a team.

    Cons

Lots of back end politics. To much worrying over personal careers in management and not enough worrying about team functionality and playing nice together.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit making change for the sake of change and start using your time and money more wisely. You have budgets that allow 1-3 out of 20 to develop their skills, then you train those 1-3 and put them into other positions. Quit wasting time and money and start using strategy to keep your departments in tact.
