Great Benefits

Senior Risk Analyst (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsThe FHLBC is a great employer with amazing benefits. While the bank is small in employee size, it is huge in volume of clientele so you are exposed to many different facets of the mortgage banking industry. The salary is competitive with industry norms. However, the Benefits are unheard of... they pay for going back to school and getting your MBA and they also have a pension system for all full time employees. I didn't know places like this still existed.

ConsAs the bank's purpose is providing liquidity to the mortgage banking industry, you won't be exposed to other types of banking. As mortgage/wholesale banking isn't going anywhere though, this isn't really that horrible of a "con"...

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

This is an organization in the throws of change

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

I worked at Fhlb Chicago full-time for more than 10 years

Pros: This bank is slowly moving from an antiquated business model to a more modern, agile model. I believe that the management of this organization is… Cons: While the Bank is dedicated to its members, it is unfortunately not as dedicated to its employees. Morale is consistently low. Employees on the whole… Advice to Senior Management: Happy people work harder. Spend more time listening to what your employees have to say. There are some very creative and hard-working individuals who are… No, I would not recommend this company to a friend More
