    Cons

--Too much dependency on libraries\open source
--work life balance can be improved.
--working on legacy products will not be recognized fairly.
--Extreme multi tasking skills required at times.

--Not much options for career change.
--No cab service(this doesn't affect me, as i like driving)
    --No stock options to engineers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hiring contractors might be a good idea, but make sure their work passes QA cycle or certified by QA before these contractors leave. Other wise your regular employees will suffer to the core with their un-recognized efforts on non-profitable products.
