Feels like a dead-end into Fund Accounting and that you will never be able to leave.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments

Pros

They give you good exposure to the market while providing the tools necessary to perform your job. There are all sorts of jobs within this company that cover a broad range.

Cons

Depending on the job, a lot is expected from you with not a lot of recognition when a job well done is performed. The pay is generally in the lower part of their industry.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If it is going to "pay for performance", there are people that do good work but aren't rewarded for it.

If you work here, leave as soon you can. If offered a job, respectfully decline it.

    Pros

There are no more good reasons to work here, they are all gone. Over 15 years in IT at this company and they have layed off the brightest and most valuable employees. The 'real' workers are gone, teams cut to the bone and expected to still get the work done. Fidelity is cutting IT and are preparing to outsource the whole thing over the next 5 years. Get a job at a company who is going to provide the outsourcing. You are expected to do your job with a blindfold on and both hands tied behind your back. Benefits are going to be cut, demotions are days away, salaries will be cut and no pay raises expected this year.

    Cons

Too many to list in the space provided. Run away and don't look back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell the damn company and get this over with. Rodger and his cronies have destroyed the company.

Very good place to start a job, tremendous place to establish a career.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments

    Pros

Very easily to be promoted within the company, as long as you excel at your previous role. Challenging enough to keep you interested until you master that role, at that time there is opportunity to move along. Benefits are unmatched compared to anywhere! 7% match on 401(k), 10% profit sharing into 401(k) each December, quarterly bonuses, health packages, fitness reimbursement, almost fully paid advance degrees (i.e. MBA).

    Cons

It can be monotonous at times. Initially, you start out on the phones as a Customer Service rep. As long as you aren't a screw up in that role, it's easy to move along to others with more responsibility. It is very much an inbound call center, however, training there is very good. Still good education when it comes to market knowledge and very, very good licensing training (7, 63, 66... possibly CFP pending on how far you move along). I have no experience in branch roles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue working on bridging the gap between FmrCo and PWI. Basically, allow more interactions between the entry level planners and product calls on various funds or market updates from analysts.
