Former Employee – worked at Fidelity Investments
Pros – The culture is one of respect for co-workers at all levels. People really do care about your life outside of work. I have met some wonderful people there that I will always stay in contact with. Too many themes and flavors of the week to promote productivity and increase morale. But they do really cute things like ice cream socials, all types of charity promotions, flue shot day, etc... In the last few years, they seemed to have nailed down certain slogans that teams incorporated into their daily work. I started my career there out of school, and learned how important image and perception is correlated to what opportunities your manager or senior person will give to you. Great place to start a career. I worked in Operations, so the raises sucked, but my hours were pretty much 8:30 to 5. Most people are out by 5 in the Ops group. All the internal systems that are meant for the employees to navigate through technology requests, benefits and pay are fantastic. Most of the time, you are given the right tools to succeed in your job. Metrics reporting sucked. But if you come in with a positive attitude then you will get one back most of the time.
Cons – I would say the salaries are not competitive and merit increases are insignificant, but at the same time, there was never a year when an increase did not happen, or when a bonus was cancelled.
Advice to Senior Management – Get rid of VPs that have no charisma. They don't have to be David Letterman funny, but mine had the personality of a door knob and I think he was just burned out and hated the position.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
