Former Employee - Technical Intern in Raleigh, NC
Former Employee - Technical Intern in Raleigh, NC

I worked at Fidelity Investments as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Some of the best pay in industry, at least in IT. Fair work environments, matches 7% dollar for dollar in 401K. Easy to move between business units, and fosters growth

Cons

Politics and old-fashioned views really slow down already bureaucratic processes. Lacking some of the more modern benefits. Benefits outside of pay not as good as other companies. Will work you for every dollar they pay.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit worrying so much about your own job security, and just do what needs to be done. Good employees are kept before inept politically motivated ones.

I worked at Fidelity Investments as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Large company, lots of opportunities, chances to shine if you have the ambition. Chance to meet a variety of people, some very talented.

    Cons

Large company means it will move slow and getting some things done requires a lot of approvals. Can easily feel lost or forgotten and go long periods of time never speaking to colleagues that sit around you.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive salary, concerned about people, flexible work hours, work at home, challenging and interesting job, given the authority to make decisions, collaborative team.

    Cons

Too much red tape to get things done, internal technology is flawed - systems down, conference rooms don't have latest equipment causing most meetings to start 10 minutes late; not the greatest communication of our benefits packages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Eliminate the bureaucracy and let us do our jobs.
