I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Open ideas are encouraged and a strong work/life balance is encouraged. It is easy to move around within the company and find your niche.

Cons

Overall the people are easy to work with and the atmosphere is positive. I really don't have many negative things to say. The overall benefit package is very good but when people leave the company it is usually because they have found a similar job that pays 10-15% more than what they currently make.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If there was one main request it would be to make the salaries more competitive.

    Pros

Privately held, great people, superior benefits. Product and service mix is outstanding. The chairman is visionary and has created a well diversified business model

    Cons

High management movement, lack consistent leadership. The culture encourages rapid turnover (3 yrs) of business unit management which means that priorities shift within the business unit as leadership changes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build culture that fosters loyalty and continuity. Constant leadership changes disrupt the flow of accomplishment and achievement.

Great company to settle down and retire from; not best for earlier in your career if you wish to learn.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great perks. In terms of bonus, profit sharing, 401(k) match, health and insurance benefits. If you are good management usually goes at length to keep you happy and retain you. Does respect work life balance.

    Cons

Bit of bureaucracy and personal interests make environment little rigid in terms of work and future roadmaps. Since a big part of salaries ( specially from senior levels) are tied to bonuses, focus changes from overall team goal to personal goals and marketing, making environment unpleasant. If you are a technical personal specially earlier in your career and want to grow technically, this might not be the right place to start.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue what you are doing to retain good employees. Please reduce bureaucracy and come up with better ways to retain your technical staff.
