I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

great compensation/benefits
lots of opportunity for growth, learning new tech
mostly great people
personal brand equity can take you a long way if you keep the work up
private company (i.e. much less of the NYSE short-term view you see some places)

Cons

increasing global diversity (meaning that jobs are often moving, usually to other parts of the US)
heavy, heavy workload
if you get a bad reputation for something, it is hard to shake free of - the same as good rep follows you

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The site strategy is the biggest risk to working at Fidelity, and a lot of people know it. Is this the reputation as an employer that you want?

    Pros

Good challenging work. If you thrive on pressure, this is good for you. You should be able to get opportunities to work on new and interesting tasks. Compensation is good - bonus and benefits.

    Cons

It seems that management learned to avoid plant-closing laws by phasing their layouts over time. From roughly 2009 through 2011, we would hear about a layoff at one business group or another on the first Tuesday of each month. Later in 2011 and 2012. there was a heavy push on "site strategy", where they were moving jobs out of Boston and other Northeast offices to Texas, North Carolina and offshore. Lots of disruption with that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too much change for the sake of change.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
