I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time

    Pros

This is a great company for those who are interested in a firm that holds itself to the highest level of integrity and focuses on doing what's right. One of the greatest advantages is that it's privately held. Employee benefits are some of the best I've seen.

    Cons

Upper management opportunities are difficult to quickly obtain without relocating.

Borderline discriminatory management. Mediocrity at its worst!

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice campus, free coffee, free parking. Quarterly appreciation event with cupcakes and games.

    Cons

No career. Politics counts for 90%, which hurts the evolution of projects and deliverables. Improvisation, lack of leadership skills, and management that plays favorites, not with those that contribute the most, or who do the best for the company, but those who kiss the boss's behinds more often. People will often take credit for your deliverables, and will also blame you for their mistakes and snafus. Performance reviews are a joke in all areas of the company, and the employee has no chance of refuting the facts. Management is often clueless, and worse, it often lies about status of projects, impacts, deadlines, or deliverables. Everybody is a VP. The less degrees you have, and the more bs you can talk, the better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fidelity is rotting from the inside, and you are losing good people, while keeping some less than capable "managers" and "VP's". Something has to give. Go to the offices, learn what is going on, get more involved with day-to-day activities. There are people who are key assets to the company, who know the business well, and who take care of their clients. They are disappearing, while some "rotten tomatoes" thrive with their less than capable managerial skills.
