I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Chance to earn some small bonuses during the quarter and at year's end. Company would show appreciation by catering food for employees from various restaurants during tax season. Obtained Series 7 and 63 registrations. Worked with a good group of people. Learned a lot via training and by being on the phone all day with customers from all 50 states. No take home work. Able to leave the job behind each day at market close.

Cons

Worked was mundane. Even as a Trader, one is stuck in a cubicle all day with a headset on shagging phone calls. Listening to abusive and ignorant customers gets old real quick. Little room for advancement. Company is big on looks. You won't land an Advisor position in one of the retail investment centers unless you look like a Ken doll.

Advice to Management

Look at people's ability and qualifications more when it comes to promoting instead of golfing buddies and people's looks. Upper management always seemed to be changing and the people brought in were from the outside. What happened to promoting from within?

    Pros

Managers offered good feedback. Adequate opportunity for upward mobility and there was an overall great compensation package.

    Cons

Unfortunately lots of career change and upward mobility is about who you know, but feedback is honest.

    Advice to Management

Look at all employees, not just some that get face time.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Decent benefits, good work environment

    Cons

Since about 2008, the company has been looking for ways to sharpen their pencils and cut costs at any opportunity. Despite a positive market and improving business, it does not seem that there is an end in sight. Employees in New England are increasingly the red headed step children with most opportunity being relocated to NC and Dallas.

    Advice to Management

The bottom line is not always the most important thing. There are many vulnerable areas due to cost cutting that could seriously impact the business if a few dominos were to fall.
