I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Great brand, very smart folks to work with, lots of exposure to multiple kinds of work if you're good and willing to put in the effort, mobility within the company is very good, lots of internal training available, growth potential is huge

Cons

Very political space and typical big organization environment. Don't be surprised by people claiming credit for your work, not have enough time to do career development with your boss, or having limited rewards for your work. Consensus building is huge at Fidelity which is both a positive and a negative.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Folks at the top have little idea who actually creates the creative work. There are so many innovative ideas that either get dropped, ignored or watered down due to design-by-committee.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good exposure and opportunities to learn in the Financial Industry. Fidelity is extremely dedicated to it's customers.

    Cons

Staffing reductions and off-shoring combined with constant reorganization and relocations make employment very precarious unless you're willing to up and move to Raleigh or Dallas. SME experience is undervalued. Bureaucratic and dilbert-like.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize that you have a serious credibility challenge with your employees. Apply the same integrity, honesty, and other values you expect of your employees to them, and you'll be more likely to get the same in return.
