    I worked at Fidelity Investments

    Pros

large firm, places internally to post for new role

    Cons

very political. hard to acheive success if no one is guiding you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Solicit input and feedback from levels below VP. The truth about program effectiveness, cost,s results, etc. are filtered for senior management. As a result, critical information is spun so the senior level managers can always report successes in their work and with their teams.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments

    Pros

The people are generally bright and very pleasant to work with. The company invests a lot in training and development. They'll pay for professional certifications and have a generous tuition reimbursement plan. Retirement and health benefits are excellent- 7% match, plus profit sharing and a company funded retirement health savings plan. Private ownership and strong financial status make it a relatively secure place to work.

    Cons

The base pay is mediocre. There is little opportunity to advance from entry to mid-level positions. In some groups the politics and favoritism can be an issue, but it definitely not the case everywhere in the company.
The review system does not do a great job of differentiating between employees, so it can be difficult to stand out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on improving operations and less on major changes like organizational re-alignment and site strategies. Revise review and compensation practices to retain top performers.
