    Pros

People who love what they do and they do it very well. Exciting place to be. From Server to Director of Operations, there is enthusiasm and a willingness to be better than you were yesterday. The discount doesn't hurt either.

    Cons

Small company, so advancement is limited and competitive. High expectations from the partners & management, so don't bother if you are not ready to get to work.

  2. A Dichotomy; most love it but everyone is always looking for another job!

I have been working at Fifth Group Restaurants full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

In depth, service and beverage program training. Strong Mission Statement and Values. It is comfortable to work with a group of truly likable co-workers on the front lines (non corporate) who shared a passion for the service industry, culinary and wine and spirit knowledge. Training emphasizes the server role as one of sales and a sophisticated level of customer service. Great food throughout family of restaurants. Employee discounts on dining.

    Cons

Very limited growth opportunities. They show very little interest in promoting qualified candidates from within. Little to zero minority diversity in management &corporate roles. Archaic wage structure @ $2.13 hr plus tips and inconsistent wages based on customer volume and over-staffing per shifts. Late night, weekend hours which are typical of the service industry. Micro management style may tend to inhibit and discourage seasoned professionals. No benefits for hourly employees.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and smell the java! Qualified, passionate & loyal employees are ignored for advancement in lieu of cookie cutter college grads.
